This remarkable masterpiece, crafted exclusively by Raven Loft Forge, is now available to collectors and blade enthusiasts alike. The original sword that inspired this design is proudly displayed at the Medieval Historical Museum of Portugal.
This 12th–14th-century medieval two-handed sword is forged using the ancient Japanese go mai technique (“five-piece”), combining high and low carbon steels including 8670, 13C26, VG10, 4140, and L2. This unique forge process gives the blade exceptional flexibility and a razor-sharp edge, with a Rockwell hardness rating of approximately 60–63.
Measuring approximately 39.6 inches in blade length and 8.9 inches in handle length, the total sword length reaches about 48.4 inches. The handle is expertly crafted from German Black Forest walnut, wrapped in handwoven Chinese silk and finished with satin red velvet leather for a luxurious yet sturdy grip.
The scabbard is made from English chestnut, lined with Chinese silk and satin. Its exterior combines layered Chinese silk, handwoven Indian red velvet satin, and rose-dyed kangaroo hide. Intricate "Blackleaf" vegetal scrollwork and seeded backgrounds pay homage to period leatherwork and armor engraving, making this piece a true work of art.
Fully hand-carved and hand-engraved, this museum-quality replica is now available to those seeking a unique Damascus steel sword with unparalleled craftsmanship.
For those seeking a more affordable option, a version forged from 1095 and 15N20 high and low carbon steels is also available, featuring a hand-embossed dyed leather scabbard.
