What is Mokume-gane?
Mokume-gane is a Japanese metalworking technique that involves fusing multiple layers of different metals together to create a patterned laminate that resembles wood grain. The term translates to "wood eye" or "wood grain metal"
The technique was developed by Shoami Denbei (1651-1727), a master metal worker, around 400 years ago. It was originally used to create sword fittings, and was based on the ancient Japanese sword-making technique of forge-welding Damascus steel.
The Mokume-Gane in this knife is made from Gold, silver, brass, gold-copper alloy, silver-copper alloy, and a copper-platinum-iron alloy.
The Blade is made from 154CM, CPM-S30V, with a ZDP-189 core.
The handle is made from Ebony with Brass rivets.
These Knives are 100% entirely handmade and very unique. The Patterns will differ from what is seen in the picture, as you absolutely can not replicate the exact same pattern of Damascus. There for each knife is truly a very unique one of a kind knife. Therefore there is only once copy of each knife made without the possibility of repeating. There will only be 10 of each knife made. Once all 10 of a knife has been made like all of Raven Loft Forges Limited Series, the knives will go in to the Raven Loft Volt.
