Crafted through an exquisite and meticulous process, this elegant hand-forged 15th-century Italian two-handed sword is a masterpiece by Raven Loft Forge. Forged from a dynamic blend of premium steels including CPM-S90V, M390, Elmax Crucible Powder High Carbon Steel, combined with wrought iron 4041, 15N20, and L6, this blade features an astonishing 6,528 true layers of Damascus steel, creating a breathtaking twist pattern unique to each sword.

The guard and pommel are crafted from 4041 carbon steel, meticulously hand-inlaid with copper to produce an absolutely stunning, intricate design that showcases exceptional artisan skill.

Measuring 36 inches in blade length with a 12-inch hilt, the sword’s total length reaches 48 inches. Despite its size, this museum-quality recreation of Raven’s famed "Spada a Due Mani Della Rosa," displayed in the Vatican Museum, weighs just 3 lbs 9 oz and boasts a balanced point only 4 7/8 inches from the guard, ensuring exceptional handling.

Known as the “Spodon” or “Two-Handed Sword,” this 16th-century Italian greatsword captures the essence of Renaissance weaponry. Originally commissioned by former Pope Benedict XVI, Raven has recreated this one-of-a-kind Damascus steel masterpiece for collectors to own a piece of history.

Inspired by 16th-century swordsman Giacomo Di Gressi’s descriptions in his 1570 manual of Italian swordsmanship, this blade embodies the tradition of greatswords, or “Zweihanders,” “Claymores,” and “Spodons”—fearsome weapons used from the 13th through the mid-17th century. These swords required highly skilled, physically fit warriors capable of wielding massive blades often exceeding seven feet in length, capable of breaking pike lines, unseating horsemen, and turning the tide of battle.

The martial techniques of the Spodon were further refined by Achille Marozzo and Francesco Alfieri, who emphasized flexibility, strength, and choreographed attack patterns. Alfieri’s 1633 writings highlight the sword’s training benefits: strengthening the hands and arms while improving body agility.

Raven’s “Spada a Due Mani Della Rosa” is more than a decorative piece—it is a true testament to Italian Renaissance history, culture, and master craftsmanship. This hand-carved, hand-engraved sword seamlessly blends historical accuracy with modern artistry, making it a singular treasure for any collector.

Elevate your collection or décor with this museum-quality Italian two-handed greatsword. Whether displayed in your living room, hallway, or office, this stunning Damascus steel masterpiece will instantly become a focal point and conversation starter, infusing your space with authentic Italian Renaissance charm and unparalleled craftsmanship.
